Cafe Gondolier Rating for Sunday Night Eats 3/30/08

We had our largest gathering this Sunday 3/30/08 = 19 people. Everyone seemed to have a terrific time, including our guests from Lake Tahoe and Seattle. Each of you who attended can put a personal comment on our BLOG about this restaurant. Please do, so we have a well-rounded perspective of everyone's experience. The rating was really high!
Also the waitress was excellent (in my opinion) and she ranked high for TRAYS (Service) among everyone's opinion.

1. Plates: 4.34
2. Trays: 4.43
3. Glasses: 3.92
4. $: 4.31
5. Environment: 4.42

Bimbamboo - Rating - Mar. 2, 2008

This last week we met at Bimbamboo: We changed the name to KARMA CAFE.
1710 Pearl Street
Boulder CO. 80302
Phone: 303 442 4575
http://www.bimbamboo.com/

Why did we change the name? Because it will be your "good to bad karmic position" in life that will determine the following:
  1. Will you get your food?
  2. Will you food get delivered to another table?
  3. Will your food be cooked?
  4. Will your food be cooked, partially cooked, and/or tasteless?
  5. Will you get waited on? If you food has a taste-what it may taste like?
  6. Will you get enough food, or will you be hungry at the end of a long meal-long because it maybe a long time before you get the food.
  7. At the end of the meal (if you got it) we suggested the KARMA CAFE give you a mirror-LOOK into the mirror so you can see your KARMA and what you deserved eating at this restaurant..........Instead of Bimbamboo you maybe Bambozzoled.

Our Rating (there was twelve of us) is as follows:
  • Plates (food): 3
  • Glasses (drinks): 3.42
  • Environment (place): 3.29
  • Trays (service): 1.58
  • Cost (value): 2.62
  • Fiz Factor (body sensation): 3.54
We had a great time at this place-really was allot of fun just because you had waitresses wandering around from table to table with plates asking "is this yours"? "Who does this belong too"? We had food delivered to our table that wasn't ours-so if was there long enough and people at our table didn't get any food they could and did eat it. The cooks were pissed at the waitresses, and we had to hug our waitress so she wouldn't cry. In the midst of this chaos we really had a fun time talking, laughing, and commenting on the circus acts around us. Do not go to this place-it is scary UNLESS you want to be entertained as to how a place should not be operated as a restaurant. Go with a bundle of humor and friends-you will enjoy it.

Pasta Jay's - Rating - Feb. 17, 2008

We ate at Pasta Jay's last Sunday and it was a BLAST!

There were 12 of us and five (5) of the 12 were NEW folks who had never been to Sunday Night Eats before.
Everyone had a good time making some new acquaintances maybe even friends.
Here are the results of the survey:
  • Plates (Food taste): 3.16
  • Trays (Service): 4.33
  • Glasses (Drinks): 4.16
  • Environment: 3.79
  • Fiz Factor: 3.79
  • Cost: 3.95
Overall: 3.86 rating which is good.

Cheers,

The Boulder Chophouse - Rating - Jan. 20, 2008

Last Sunday we met at The Boulder Chophouse. Here are the ratings/numbers:

  • Plates (food/taste): 4.08
  • Trays (service): 3.875
  • Fiz Factor (effect on your body): 4.125
  • Environment (place/atmosphere): 5
  • Cost (overall value): 3.56
  • TOTAL Overall RATING: 4.206
This was a good overall rating-if the restaurant BREAKS 4.0 that is worth a second trip sometime in the future. The Moongate restaurant on Pearl has our highest rating so far. The Chophouse was reduced in rating due to the COST factor and really skyrocketed due to the PLACE/Environment category.

UPDATE: We were going to go to The Boulder Chop House Restaurant (921 Walnut Street) for a return engagement, but apparently they did not care whether we came back or not? The manager was going to check if the 4th of January 2009 would work, and after two follow up messages from me she did not even bother to respond-and "left a message with her front desk" person that maybe she would get back to me sometime? Frankly, if I owned a restaurant and a group of people (30 at least) were going to come back to eat-because they really liked my place-I would not ignore them. Especially in a down-economy and our SEE list goes out to over 150 people a week plus we maintain a BLOG.

Frankly I would not recommend going to this restaurant since the managing partner did not really care about our business-thats right someone in authority really did not have enough common sense to ask 150 people back to her restaurant and those people had a very positive view of the establishment.

Tandorri Grill - Rating - Jan. 12, 2008

There was small group of us who met at the Tandorri Grill = Indian Food.

I forgot to bring in the sheet so we didn't rate the place, but just as well-the rating would have been embarrassing..........This place just did not cut the grade. We had a really good time with the crowd who showed up-lots of laughs and some crazy occurrences BUT the food and service does not warrant a trip back in the future.
So no numbered rating on this one-lets just say THUMBS down.

The Olive Garden - Rating - Jan. 6, 2008

Nine of us got together last Sunday at the Olive Garden.....The ratings was as follows:
  • Plates (food taste): 3.0
  • Glasses (Drinks taste): 4.0
  • FIZ (Effect on your body) Factor: 4.12
  • Cost ($ value): 4.28
  • Trays (Service): 4.12
  • Place (environment): 3.59
OVERALL rating: 3.85

This is a pretty good rating.....and we all had a good time! So even a restaurant chain can make the grade with us.
Cheers,
Caswell P. Forrest

Ruby's - Rating - Dec. 12, 2007

The rating was ABOVE AVERAGE however I shredded the results by mistake today-SORRY!
There were allot of four's (4) so by memory the rating was probably our highest to date OVERALL a 4 (four).
We sat at their largest booth-holds ten (10) persons-fun for us hard for the waiter. Ruby's serves beer, wine, and margaritas as well. The burgers were great-fries were on-the-fence.
The place is definitely worth a visit if you are in the neighborhood. There were 9 of us who showed up.

We are going to add another category to our rating chart = PLACE (environment). So we will make a rating on PLATES, GLASSES, $, TRAYS, FIZ
FACTOR, and PLACE.

Obviously PLACE means what is the place like-warm/cold, ugly/handsome, clean/dirty, etc.............this consideration keeps coming
up at our rating and we have had no category for it. Cheers!

Cheers Caswell and Roland

Old Chicago Pizza House - Rating - Dec. 9, 2007

We went to Tom's Tavern for a Hamburger, BUT there was a Full House of diners plus at least a dozen people ahead of us-SO we walked across the walkway to Old Chicago Pizza House. We were planning to go there someday, so it happened.

There was a large group of us so here are the results:
By the way everyone wanted me to say that the room we ate in SUCKED-it was cold until we opened the vent, surrounded by glass and the fireplace was roaring except it was OUTSIDE on their uncovered patio!????

In fairness, their main dining area was warm, full of large booths, BUT there were so many of us they could not accommodate us as a group in the main dining area-they were not prepared for large groups on Sunday night.
  • Plates: 3.93
  • Glasses: 3.42
  • Trays: 3.35
  • $: 4.45
  • Fiz Factor: 4.11
Overall this restaurant rating was ABOVE average-actually quite well compared to MOST other places we have been. Was everyone in a good mood?

Cheers,

Caswell P. Forrest

Japango - Rating - Dec. 12, 2007

We had a small group, but still met and ate.......This place is obscure, if you didn't have the address it would be hard to find. The sign is small, the restaurant is at the BACK of an indented cluster of stores-we did find it however.
They have a Sushi Bar and an area with tables as well. The dining area is small, and there is no sound muffling acoustics, so it gets noisy plus it is made for small people (chairs are close together per the tables). They have a late happy hour, so we got deals on drinks up to 6:30PM at least on Sunday night.

The evaluation is as follows:
  • Plates: 3.5
  • Glasses: 3.83
  • Trays: 4.33
  • $: 4.5
  • Fiz Factor: 4.33

This place was definitely above average. We would frequent it again.

Cheers,

Caswell P. Forrest

Boulder Cafe - Rating - Nov. 25, 2007

Hi-last Sunday we met at the Boulder Cafe (11/25/07) @ 6:00PM. We had two people who just returned from Brazil and one person returning from Vietnam. It was an international learning experience for us all. The company was great the food was a mixed opinion. Here are the numbered results:
  • Plates: 3.68
  • Glasses: 3.75
  • Trays: 3.77
  • Price $: 3.56
  • Fiz Factor: 3.81
This whole thing amounts to a little above average in results. The conversations and people were a FIVE rating however. We have some new people on the LIST, so I need to explain what this means:
  1. PLATES = taste of food
  2. GLASSES = taste of drinks
  3. TRAYS = service
  4. PRICE $ = overall value of what you got and what you paid
  5. FIZ FACTOR = How did your body feel after the meal?
We rate each factor from 1 to 5 (5 being the BEST). It is a fun thing to do.

Cheers,

Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant - Rating - Nov. 11, 2007

Hey Gang!
I was a professional chef in another time zone in my life, and my specialty was Mexican food. I was the head chef at the Santa Fe Country Club in New Mexico. I learned from Mexican women who have been cooking that style of food ALL their lives and especially New Mexican Cuisine. This restaurant last Sunday was a disaster!

The drinks were great (Margaritas) however I do not drink........okay enough of my opinion. The company was fun and terrific and that makes up for any shortcomings in the place we go every Sunday. There were eight (8) of us this weekend........Here is the rating for RGMR (RIO):
  • Plates (food): 3.08
  • Glasses (drinks): 4.08
  • Trays (Service): 3.5
  • $ (value): 3.83
  • Fiz Factor(body sensation): 3.5
Overall: 3.6

This is one of the lowest overall ratings we have had to date. Further it was HOT as HELL in the place. Extremely popular even for a Sunday night but their air venting and cooling did not keep up with the activity in the place. We stripped down to short sleeve shirts and it was still hot. Felt great to get out at the end!

Cheers,

BJ's Pizza Grill and Brewery - Rating Oct. 21, 2007

We met at BJ's Pizza Grill and Brewery-eight people showed up and two
persons got lost at another restaurant. Everyone seemed to have a good time and enjoyed the place as well. Here are the results:
  • Plates: 3.68
  • Glasses: 3.62
  • Trays: 3.18
  • $: 4.31
  • Fiz Factor: 3.90
The numbers are not our best to date, but the place was recommendable-if you
ever need to recommend a PUB to someone. The TV's gave us access to baseball and football games simultaneously-in both cases Colorado teams were playing and victorious!

Cheers,
Caswell P. Forrest

Moongate - Rating Oct. 14, 2007

Moongate Restaurant - Oct. 14, 2007

Wow! What a terrific place = Moongate Restaurant
Of all the places we have been to date this one out-shines all of the other
spots...... Here are the ratings:
  • Plates (Food value) = 4.16
  • Glasses (drinks) = 3.92
  • Trays (Service) = 4.75
  • $ (Cost) = 4.66
  • Fiz Factor (Body reaction to food) = 4.42
These ratings are really high across the board. We would recommend this
place to anyone.

It is a winner. The nights are getting darker sooner, and maybe more of you can make the dinners for the FALL...We had a great time at this place and look forward to next week's get-together. If any of you would like to bring
a friend-please feel free.

I will let you know this week where we are going this Sunday.

Cheers,
Caswell P. Forrest

The Cork - Rating - Sept. 16, 2007

The Cork - Rating - Sept. 16, 2007
  • Plates(food): 3.87
  • Glasses (Drink): 4.5
  • Price ($): 3.87
  • Trays (Service): 5
  • Fiz Factor: 4.5
As you can see the price of the food was equal to the taste of the food, so
low value of taste verses the cost OR high cost verses the taste of the
food.
The atmosphere was very nice, the service was incredible, but the cost was
high and the food value did not BEAT the cost.
Take it for what it is worth. We all had FUN however!

Cheers,
Caswell P. Forrest

Antica Roma - Rating - Sept. 10, 2007

Antica Roma

We had a good turn-out of people for this last dinner.
* Some new people and an international visitor from Israel.
* Nine (9) people came and we had a lively time plus we ran the age
gamut-from 20 years old to 60 years............yea baby!
* Here are the ratings for this restaurant:
  • 1. Plates (food value): 3.75
  • 2. Glasses (drink Value): 2.85
  • 3. Trays (service value): 4.55
  • 4. Price ($): 2.85
  • 5. Fiz Factor (effect on your body AFTER the meal): 4.07
* These are not high rating when you look at the whole picture.
* We would not return to ANTICA ROMA, unless all of the other Italian
restaurants in town were worse.

Cheers,
Caswell P. Forrest

Centro Restaurant - Rating - August 2, 2007

This was an interesting restaurant. I believe the address is 950 Pearl (it
is located at the cross street of 10th and Pearl). The waiters describe the
food as Latin. Our experience there was if you order particular dishes they
are GREAT, others overpriced but terrific, and others just plain crappy. It
is a mixed bag-but if you get the right things it is well worth the trip.

1. The Centro Avocado Salsa was excellent-appetizer. Everyone loved it
and the chips were wonderful.
2. The flank steak is a loser (we sent it back) and the exchanged it
for another dish no questions asked or additional charge.
3. The Roasted Chicken DISH is fantastic. That was ordered by two
people and they loved it. We all tasted various parts of the dish and each
part was tasty plus you got plenty of food for your money.
4. The burrito dish was very good in taste-but the $16.00 charge for a
fancy, unique, and tasty burrito combination was out of bounds.

Here are our ratings: Based on a 5 point rating
  • Plates: 4.3 (food quality)
  • Trays: 4.75 (service quality)
  • Glasses: 4.55 (drinks quality)
  • $: 4.2 (cost/value)
  • Fiz Factor: 4.1 (food effect on your body)
We ate on the patio which was cool and fun. The waiter was very good and we
all had a great time. Neat place if you choose the right dishes. We went on
Sunday evening so we got a table right away-looks like a popular place so
other times you had better call ahead.

Cheers,
Caswell P. Forrest
